It Rained

Drinking in the rain....cooking in the rain....eating in the rain....roasting marshmellows in the rain....tenting it in the rain....and swimming, yeah, that's right, swimming in the rain.

I went camping this past weekend. It rained. I got to ride my first jetski. In the rain. It was the best day, EVER! Flying across the water is a wonderful feeling. I could have spent all day on that jetski.

I spent the weekend camping in Swift Forest Camp at Swift Reservior on the lush slopes of Mt. St. Helens. I don't know if you can normally see the volcano, but due to weather issues, we(the Parkers, Badeshears, and Blakemans) could not. I can't really complain about the weather because it did quit raining midday Saturday, and it was warm. Anyone who has spent any time in the Northwest knows that you can't ask for more than that. Which is why I found myself walking to the lake, in the rain, wearing a swimsuit and rain pants. And I was carrying a towel. I still can't decide what was sillier; the rain pants or the towel? I think I wore the rain pants so I didn't have to walk through the campground in just a suit. I guess I brought the towel because you bring a towel to dry off when you go swimming. Some things are just instinctual. Duh.

A Perfect NW Day

I had a hankerin for the beach that I finally satisfied. It was a perfect day. There's nothing better than the sound of a stormy beach. The wind blowing, the waves crashing, the rain pelting your face like tiny daggers. Aaahhh. I love this place! Cannon Beach was the destination this trip. Oddly enough, there weren't many people on the beach. And this week is Oregon's Spring Break. I realize the tourists don't venture out on rainy days, but where were all the Oregonians? Weather doesn't usually stop us. Especially when it's just wet. I prefer having the beach to myself, I just wasn't expecting it.
I went on a hike to another beach and realized how long it has been since I have had a good soaking hike. It is an invigorating feeling. Some people might say cold, miserable, soggy, etc. To those people I say, "Wuss!" The perfect end to a beach day is a bread bowl of chowder at Mo's. And it tastes best when one is soaking wet and cold. It was delicious.
The best part of the day was when I spotted a blow from a grey whale. It's a little past whale migration, so I was a little surprised, but delighted. Funny how, even though the whale has no clue I am there it makes me feel like we are connected. A purely human perception, but it was comforting. I look forward to my friend from Missoula, MT coming for a visit and spending a week camping on the coast.

Gotta love Portland

Hey Ladies!!!!!

If you ever watched Days, check out this link: http://www.koin.com/Global/story.asp?s=5892237.
Wasn't it Marlena who was posessed?????

Who'd have thought a man would have gone after John?

We can blame this on the rain, too, can't we?
